About the Artist
Elizabeth Murray was an American painter, printmaker, and draughtsman known for her distinctively shaped canvases. Her paintings blurred the lines between two-dimensional art and sculpture by featuring bold colors, abstract compositions, and fragmented images of everyday objects. Murray was a recipient of numerous awards, including a MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant in 1999.
